Success with Grandmas

Both Grandma Jan and Grandma Brigid survived watching Maeve over the last 3 1/2 weeks. Grandma Jan ran errands with Maeve and visited Great Grandma Joanne. She also made crafts with Maeve - her very first valentine! Grandpa Steve helped a lot too! We were glad to have them both so close by and ready with all of Maeve's needs. Grandma Brigid enjoyed dinner at Ruth's Chris, reading, chatting, and working on tummy time with Maeve. Grandma Brigid only left the house a few times in 14 days because the roads were terrible! We've had 49 days with below zero temperatures this year....one of the worst. Lucky us!! Here are some videos and pictures of all of the fun that Maeve had over the past 3 1/2 weeks. Daycare starts on Monday!

Charting our travels

Look what came in the mail today - an Etsy purchase - a map for Maeve! For those of you who haven't been to our house, Eric and I started charting our travels on a U.S. and World map by pinning the places that we go. Now, Maeve can chart her travels by coloring in the states that she's been to. So far, Minnesota and Florida are colored in. She already has plane tickets to Idaho and New Jersey and we're planning trips to New Orleans and the New England states. She may have her map colored in at the same time that we do. For the record, Kate has 4 states left - Wyoming, Montana, New Mexico, and Vermont. Eric has 10 states left - Montana, Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Ohio, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Delaware.

Eating Out

Maeve's first trip out for restaurant week was to Ruth's Chris. She was awake the whole time and enjoyed playing with her hands, her blanket from Aunt Anne, and sucking her pacifier. Eric, Brigid, and Kate enjoyed a nice steak. The other pics attached are a week late but we got to go to a cooking class while Grandma Brigid watched Maeve last Sunday. It was part of Eric's birthday present back in December. We enjoyed making brunch. Maybe one day we'll have time to actually make the meals again :)

We love to laugh

If this doesn't make you smile, I don't know what will! Maeve's first laughs caught on camera. This makes a long day at work so much better when you come home to a smiling, giggly baby!

3 Months!

Maeve is officially 3 months old today!  She continues to be a bundle of joy and excitement for Kate and I!  Sadie our golden retriever feels neglected from time to time, but with the temperatures warming up Dad has been able to make sure she doesn't miss out on any of the excitement by getting some nice walks outside.

Kate has finished her 1st full week back at work and for the most part things are going very well.  She already has a lot to do, but this is a good thing!  Her co-workers and new boss have been supportive of her as she makes the transition back to the office.  The biggest thing she has said thus far is that its difficult to not be tired in the afternoons.

Maeve is finishing up her last 2 days at Grandma and Grandpa Kirchner's house before Grandma Brigid arrives on Saturday.  Grandma and Grandpa have had a great time with her and she seems to continue to improve on her bottle feedings.  Grandma has done lots of research on different bottles and nipples to see if there is one we can find that she likes.  Grandma and Grandpa also learned that Maeve really likes going out in the car to run errands and go exploring!  They took her on an adventure earlier this week and next thing they knew the afternoon was far more productive for bottle feedings than what the morning was!

Yesterday she managed to consume all the milk we sent over!! (Side note - she also managed to fall asleep when Dad picked her up after work and then proceeded to sleep for 2.5 hours straight!!)  Tough work I guess for all the feedings!  We're still trying to determine if there are any patterns that develop in feeding or sleeping as we prep for daycare which begins the 1st Monday in March.

Last weekend we took Maeve to Barnes and Noble for coffee and to continue planning a trip to New England this summer.  We are hoping to get to New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont in late August, early September.  Despite being a little fussy at first and thinking our coffee date was going to be cut short, Maeve managed to do great and we had a blast together!  It was nice to get all of us out of the house together as that hasn't happened much.

We're still getting up in the middle of the night at least 1 time for a feeding and a diaper change, but for the most part she is sleeping very well for a 3 month old.  Dad got to meet up with some of his guy friends from college on Tuesday night as they work to find the best burger in the Twin Cities and Mom is meeting up with the people from her new Mom's group tonight for a Happy Hour.

All for now - Happy Thursday!
Dad

12 weeks

Tomorrow Maeve will be 12 weeks old. That can only mean one thing - back to work! Maeve and I have enjoyed many activities over the course of the last 12 weeks. We had several visitors to keep us company and we enjoyed learning new things every day. Tomorrow will be a change. I will start back at work at Medtronic and Maeve will go to Grandma Jan and Grandpa Steve's house. I will miss my view (even though it was covered with snow the entire leave and lucky for me this was a record-breaking year with 1 month of below zero temperatures. I couldn't have picked a better time to be off (do you sense the sarcasm?)). My cubicle will not have this view, however, so I'll have to bring in some pictures of my view (sleeping Maeve in my arms, Sadie on the couch, and the back porch). Yesterday, we went downtown Minneapolis to visit dad for a lunch break. We had a great time walking through the skyways and seeing dad because we won't get many opportunities to do that in the near future. Here are a few pictures from our last two days.
