On my first day off from my sabbatical at work, we went to the Twins game and the Zoo for a behind-the-scenes tour to see the red pandas (can't post pics due to people not wanting to see animals behind bars...) & then the next day we headed up to Lake Itasca State Park to go to the Mississippi headwaters. We had a great time climbing (or me - crawling) across the rocks at the start of the river and then floating down a bit to the Mary Gibbs center. Afterwards, we stayed in Bemidji where the kids enjoyed the Science center (Maeve even held a snake around her neck) and mini golfing (Grandpa Ed had 3 hole-in-ones!). I enjoyed all of the activities, and the stop on the way home at Krewe - a James Beard award semi-finalist - for some delicious New Orleans food.
