We enjoyed getting back to Bayfield and showing Brigid and Ed and the kids this area. The night before we left, Luke and Yvonne stayed with Ed and Brigid as Sean was running Grandma's marathon so it was nice to catch up with them and see Margo too.
We left the next morning and we really enjoyed the stops along the way in Stillwater, Hayward and Ironwood, Michigan to hike and check off Kyle's 40th state. It seems that a lot of people from the area go to Bayfield as we ran into a teacher on our hike, Father Kevin on the ferry to Madeline island, and a student of Ed's from St. Thomas. We decided not to take the car over to Madeline island and walk around the main area - very few shops and a burned down bar with live music and ice cream were the highlights.
We're so glad we were able to get out to the Apostle Islands this time, unlike the last time Eric and I tried to go. They were beautiful - although a bit breezy getting out there. We were first in line at the boat so they gave us a pretty picture book of the islands.
The house was in a nice location, just steps from town, and we enjoyed the pizza, fish and the cheese curds. We stopped again in Hayward on the way back to get way too full off delicious ice cream and then made another stop at Fawn Doe Rosa to feed the animals.
